Pruning

John 15 records the famous, “Jesus as the True Vine.”  What I’ll take note of today is the pruning dimension by the Father gardener of the story.  We see the Father attempt to prune and correct the rebellious seed of Abraham in the Old Testament.  We see the Lord discipline His people generation after generation.  The Lord remains patient, waiting for us to bear fruit.  Eventually there is a decision by the gardener what to do with us.  The gardener is waiting to see if the pruning will bear positive evidence in our lives.  If we are authentically related to Jesus “the Vine” then others are going to need to see the fruit in our lives.  If we are caught playacting a relationship with God for too long we are cut, and burned.

Today, I pray for sensitive eyes to see where the Lord’s desires to be pruning in my life.  Where is the need for trimming and cutting to be making way for the power of the resurrected life found in Christ to shine more brilliantly?

May God bless you by pruning you today.
